HEALTHY CHOICES - A PERSON'S CHOICE

HEALTHY CHOICES -- A PERSON'S CHOICE

Now that summer is almost winding down, I would like to share with you what I have been laboring over as the perception of the "new healthy, longevity" New York City, in the guise of health care, which I have categorized as "Health Care Fraud."

First, let me establish the First Amendment, no not "Freedom of Speech," but the right to "Redress the Government."  As a democratic society, we have the right to choose what is best for OUR health, after all we have been in these bodies, some longer than others.  Therefore, sugar, in the guise of over 33 ounces (big gulp) SODA, will not cure, slow down, or stop (the spread of)  DIABETES.    DIABETES has become so complex--there's Juvenile, Types I and II, and other forms not solely based on sugar intake.  From listening, hearing, seeing, over the years--some people need something sweet to elevate their sugar levels, and then there's some who can over dose and go into a coma, trying to doctor themselves for that intake.  Then there are some, to avoid insulin and to keep their sugar levels stabilized, will exercise (jogging/walking/aerobics), to keep it at a level, which is numeric, and that person should/will know.  Then, there are the greedy who will use use "diabetes" as an excuse to over compensate.  Limiting the intake of soda, which is mostly ice, and I am almost sure, not consumed as much in the winter, will not offset this disease.

My personal favorite "pet peeve," my "crutch," is SMOKING.  I can do or do without.  It depends on the day.  There are numerous facilities/institutions, e.g., movies, libraries, offices, hospitals, prisons, shelters, where you cannot smoke.  It's a person's choice.  The air quality, alone, can be stifling, as well as some people with hygiene problems.

BREAST FEEDING -- It's a person choice, yet, years ago, it was not good for you, slow development for the babies (something to that affect), and the public is squirming -- Oh!  Oomigash -- not in public, and one does not know how birth might affect the body as a whole.  As a matter of fact,  years ago, breast milk used to be screened and tested, before administering it to the infant.  The same holds true for blood donations --- screened.

PASTA -- "Runners' Food" -- STARCH turns into SUGAR - ENERGY -- I eat Ritz Crackers before I JOG, to retain water.

BAKERIES -- closed, now they are re-opening, again-- CHOLESTEROL???

CHOLESTEROL --  GOOD or BAD?????--Plaque build-up around the heart (only your doctor might know).

COFFEE -  Good for the Heart. (Moderation)

CHOCOLATES (DARK) -- Good for Heart (Moderation)

OATMEAL -- Good for the Heart-("be heart smart.")--Starch

WINE (RED) --Good for the heart. (moderation)

SMALLER APARTMENTS--WOW!!!!, space savers (furniture) for dollhouses -- they used to be called compacts, studios -- usually reserved for when the nest is empty, now, according to statistics, the nest is not leaving, because they cannot afford the smaller apartments.

HYPERTENSION -- STRESS -- HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE, LOW BLOOD PRESSURE??? (worrying about the cost of living, smaller dwellings, what to or what not to EAT, DRINK, ETC.)

There are ongoing, never-ending lists of health problems, and even though New York City is being touted with longevity, because the people cut down on>>>>>>, it has been their lifestyles, before ten years, during those years, some by choice, none the less, THEIR CHOICE, and some who could not afford or had health care coverage, and with the OBAMA CARE, hopefully, these illnesses can be detected and/or eliminated before it's full blown.

Certain areas in the Bronx, are selling "healthy" foods, and some merchants are participating in a program to try to eliminate "junk" food--whatever that may be.  Peanuts (butter), which are considered relatively healthy, -- can cause/trigger allergies, sometimes even leading to death.

Some homeless shelter foods are "unhealthy," (start there), yet, at Rikers, they have served the "pyramid," health chart foods, now they have been serving whole wheat bread since 2008.  At least it's a start, and their health care is excellent -- (podiatrist, dentist, opticians, dermatologist, cardiologist, gynecologist, etc).    And, if hospital care is required, there's Elmhurst Hospital.

If the City of New York can pinpoint an area, where the eating habits are due to poor environmental living conditions, you would think an experienced, licensed practitioner would be in order to diagnose these maladies.

Enjoy the rest of the summer!!--Winter is upon us!!!--OH! YES -- WINTER IN AMERICA!!!!

Thanks!
